| The Quotes From Famous Poets We All Know |

Often we quote a line from something we have heard long ago. We are not sure where the saying comes from but it has been said before. Often the famous poets that write these words are not remembered but their words are. Most likely the most famous quote is from Robert Frost who said that 'poetry is what gets lost in translation'.
Even Sigmund Freud stated that, "Everywhere I go a poet has been there before me." There are words that get lost in translation and there are feelings that can only be relayed through symbolism. Many of the poets that we know best were not recognized in their time. For example, Emily Dickenson was a recluse and barely left her home. Her poetry was found and published after her death by her family and her words graced the world after she was gone. While she lived, her tortured soul found comfort in the words she penned on paper. Others, such as Maya Angelou, are still present as their words are. She is one of the most prolific poets of the modern age with the rhythm she pens on paper. Her words run deep and although many are based on the struggle of the African American, her words hit home with any woman. It seems that the life of the poet is just as interesting as the words they write. Evaluators are mesmerized by the reasoning in the words they write. It is a peephole into the soul to see what someone is thinking and feeling. The poets are brave enough to share their souls with the rest of us and their lives are fascinating to us which helps develop a following. Walt Whitman wrote great quotes that hone in on the lives of poets themselves. How fascinating they are and what makes them tick. Even the poets are self evaluating and that is what may make them so good at what they do. They strive to dig deep into their own human thoughts to express themselves. It may be us the audience gleaning on their ability to do so when we wish we could. When we do not have the deepest of words to say we use theirs. Famous poets will live on after they are gone in the quotes we use every day. Robert Graves was another of the many poets who considered himself only a vessel for his writing. Him and many others are confused by what is popular and what is not as it is subjective to the audience that reads them. |
